ReplyDelete1. I’m practicing with the song “Act My Age” by One Direction since it’s one of my favorites from the band—though honestly, my real favorites are “End of the Day” and “Happily.” As for my taste in music, I’d say I’m into anarcho-punk and queer-punk right now (not even sure if that last one is a real genre). My music choices are super based on my mood, so I switch genres and artists randomly.
2. I checked out the English Grammar Reference page and realized I struggle with telling the grammar rules apart and knowing how to use them right. I’m also thinking of a few ideas to help with my other challenges:
Grammar: Go over a few rules each day with examples and try out some grammar apps.
Vocabulary: Use flashcards to keep up with new words and group similar ones together.
Listening: Start with audio at slower speeds if needed, then work up to normal speed without subtitles.
Reading: Start with easy stuff, focus on main ideas, and do a quick summary after.
Consistency: Set small weekly goals.
3. I checked out https://www.englishpage.com, and the use of gerunds and infinitives is pretty confusing—especially since the grammar changes depending on the type of subject.
4. I watched the video "Protests" and felt pretty good about my listening skills; I’m comfortable with English audio.
5. I watched episode seven of the first season of *Shameless* (U.S.) because honestly, no matter how bad your day is, the Gallaghers always have it worse! It’s my “uncomfortable comfort” show. To sum it up: Fiona’s stuck taking care of her siblings and Frank, while she has a decent boyfriend who doesn’t get her reality, and my favorite character is dealing with a pedophile or groomer (both terms work here).
6. I picked “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” for a fill-in-the-blanks exercise since it was my song for the dance at my 15th birthday.
7. The story I listened to was “A Murder-Suicide”—it sounded a lot like Poe’s style but simpler.
8. It’s a great tool, especially since I tend to sound like Karol G in her first international interviews.
